New International Airport for Alanya, Turkey

The Telegraph reports that a new airport outside the ancient city of Alanya in southern Turkey has finally been given the go-ahead after years of anticipation. It will take just 20-30 minutes to reach the city from the new Gazipasa airport, which will be 30km outside Alanya.

This is good news for British buyers who have been showing increasing interest in the region, where new apartments start from around £60,000. The airport is expected to be operational as early as mid 2008.

easyJet's new flights to Bulgaria

easyJet is to launch three new routes this winter from the UK to Bulgaria, Portugal and Austria, including two new routes from Liverpool Airport and one from Gatwick Airport. Flights from Gatwick to Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, will start from November 6th 2007.

easyJet to fly from Birmingham

easyJet is to launch its first flights this winter from Birmingham  International Airport. The budget airline will be flying to Geneva, in Switzerland, and the French city of Grenoble starting in December, to expand on it's "ski services" to the French and Swiss Alps.

New flights Cardiff to New York ?

Long haul budget airline Zoom Airlines is in talks about launching flights from Cardiff Airport to New York, USA.

A spokesman for the airport confirmed that it was talking to the airline after Zoom began daily flights between Gatwick and New York's John F Kennedy International Airport earlier this week.

Passport price to increase

The cost of an adult passport will increase from £66 to £72 this October, the third price rise in under two years.

The price increase was requested by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The body says it needs more funding to cover the cost of helping British travellers who get into difficulty abroad.

Turkey - "one of the best tourism destinations"

In a poll which may be of interest to those considering investing in overseas property, Turkey has been identified as one of the best tourism destinations by an industry magazine.
German publication Tourist Report placed Turkey second in a list of 12 Mediterranean and Black Sea locations ahead of Spain, Altinkum Voices reported.

Flybe launch Cardiff to Paris flights

Flybe launched flights between Cardiff Airport and Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport earlier this week. The new service operates seven days a week throughout the year, with fares from £34.99 one way including taxes and charges.

Low living costs attract tourists to Bulgaria

According to the Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer, Bulgaria  is significantly cheaper than most other European holiday destinations. Items such as a cup of coffee, a bottle of beer, a packet of cigarettes and a three-course meal are far cheaper in Bulgaria than they are in Cyprus, France or Greece.

According to the Post Office, foreign currency sales for Bulgaria were up 83 per cent in the two weeks before Easter, when compared with 2006.

Scottravel to begin flights from Aberdeen to Dalaman, Turkey

Direct flights from Aberdeen Airport to Turkey are set to take  off for the first time this summer. The twice weekly flights to Dalaman by tour operator Scottravel launch on 4 June and run until the end of July.

Ryanair plans new flights to the USA

Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary has announced plans to start a low-cost transatlantic airline serving six cities in the USA from its existing European bases, offering fares as low as £7 (before taxes and charges).
